The end caps are connected by 2 or 4 metal rods; their perimeter is protected by an elastomer bearing profile. There are holes to allow access to the inside of the tube to facilitate positioning of the rods. Two removable handles are supplied.
These cylinders are sold as \u2018formwork tubes\u2019 in building supply stores in various diameters ranging from 20 to 120 cm and in various lengths of up to 12 m, depending on the manufacturer.
The most commonly used tube diameters are between 20 and 40 cm for textiles and between 40 and 60 cm for canvas paintings. The stress on the paint layer is greater with smaller diameters.

\nIt consists of two round plywood flanges enclosing a spiral-wound kraft paper cylinder (not supplied). The diameter of the flanges is 20 cm larger than that of the cylinders in order to lift the work off the floor once rolled up.
