Tyvek grade 1442R enters the Chassitech product range
Tyvek® has been universally adopted for its strength, ventilation properties and safety as a packaging material for artworks since its introduction in France in 2007 by Chassitech for the Museum market.
Initially sold in grade 1623E in rolls 50 meters long and 152.4 or 304.8 centimeters wide, you can now also find Tyvek grade 1442R on our website in the same packaging.
What are the differences between grade 1623E and grade 1442R?
Grade 1623E offers a “ textile” finish with micro-perforations, making it more flexible and particularly breathable. It ensures archival quality.
Grade 1442R offers a “paper” touch without micro-perforations and has a smoother and therefore more rigid surface.
Tyvek® grades 1623E and 1422R are the only grades authorized for the storage, packaging, and transport of paintings and sculptures. Both are pH neutral, water repellent, and lint-free, allowing condensation to escape and providing protection against external damage (particularly dust particles).
